Lance Miller - There Will Come A Day

I have to confess, when I first saw Lance Miller on the USA Network's original series Nashville Star I wasn't sure if he was going to be able to make it as a vocalist. Lance Miller has since proven me wrong as he has come out of his shell, relaxed and changed my mind. I now believe Lance to be one of the front runners on the show. There Will Come A Day has shown me that Lance Miller is a pure country songwriter as well as performer.

If you didn't know prior to hearing this CD, you would wonder who this new star was. Not a star yet, but the velvet delivery in his vocals combined with a sound that although current also draws on his influences of the past. Listening to the CD shows that Lance Miller has a special place in his heart for traditional country music, that is at times a rarity in the world of pop goes the country.

"Who's That Look In Your Eyes" has a flare that could fit Ronnie Milsap to a T, you can also hear traces of John Conlee, Keith Whittley and Merle Haggard blended to give a unique brand to Lance Miller's vocals. From the beginning this CD is as strong as anything else you could hear out there today which leads me to think that Lance Miller will become a star, if npot a Nashville Star, it won't take long for another record label to offer Lance Miller a lucrative recording contract.

Giving his all to each of the 11 tracks makes There Will Come A Day a truly pleasurable experience. Songwriting is a craft that few can master, at least not well, but Lance Miller demonstrates that he is in the upper class. Songs that include wit, honesty and emotion put this country hopeful ay the top of a very high list. There are a lot of standout tunes here, a couple of which are "George Jones And Jesus " , "Must Have Been From Texas" and "There Will Come A Day". A true treat to listen to.

           Too Much To Dream 

Lance Miller - Too Much To Dream

I actually received this CD, Lance Miller's first full length CD after I received his latest release There Will Come A Day (Above review). But after growing to really like the style and ease which Lance Miller delivers a song, both from his appearance in the final 4 of the second season of Nashville Star, I was very glad to accept this CD for review as well. I've said it before, but I will have to say it again, there is no reason in my mind that we haven't heard more from Lance Miller.

Lance Miller has the ability to draw you in with a true, pure country voice that can sound any bit as good as Merle Haggard at times, drifting to some Keith Whittley and even some  Earl Thomas Conley. That's pretty good company to be in if you ask me. For a young artist that has yet to really make his mark in the music industry, Lance Miller makes it look and sound easy to be a country crooner.

I know it ain't easy, but that's not the point, the point is simple, this young country star on the rise is sure to be making a dent in the country market soon. He has a true country music voice and can write a hell of a song to boot. Folks, Lance Miller is  a country traditionalist that could be on the front line when the trend goes, as it has been lately, yto the true country sound of the past, and Lance Miller fits that profile to a TEE!

I was excited when I slid Too Much to Dream into the CD player and the same voice I heard on his latest rel;ease was still there, recorded a few years earlier. He has matured more as a songwriter, and as a vocalist, but when you hear Lance Miller sing great songs like "If You Want A Foo; Around", the funloving "Nothing's Too Good For Daddies Little Girl" and "Even If I Have to say so Myself", it is no fluke that Lance Miller made it to the top 5 of Nashville Star. Keep your ears tuned in folks because it isn't going to be long before we start hearing more of Lance Miller on the radio, and that won't be hard to take at all.
