Greelong, Australia born Country Music singer Adam Harvey in his biography mentions influences the likes of Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, and Elvis Presley. On Workin' Overtime the traditional sound is clear and it is evident that Adam Harvey draws on many influences past and present. Workin' Overtime is a solidified Country Music CD that makes you wonder why Adam Harvey hasn't tackled North America earlier, be on the lookout, this one's gonna fly.

Adam Harvey sings songs with classic country themes, drinkin', lovin', cheatin, and hard work (sometimes the lack thereof). After listening to Workin' Overtime it becomes obvious why Adam Harvey  has accomplished accolades like Male Vocalist Of The Year (2002 and 2004) and Album Of The Year Golden Guitars, a Gold album (In Australia) for his “Workin' Overtime” album and a string of number one hit singles, and he now has signed with Canada's Open Road Recordings, the same label as the Wilkinsons, Jason McCoy, Doc Walker and others . Adam Harvey's true baritone voice resonates, seems really to pass right through the very soul of Country Music.

If there is a formula for what a true male Country music vocalist should sound like, Adam Harvey seems to have followed it, and added a bit more to it. Workin' Overtime grabbed me from the first listen, Adam Harvey is a purist, and a natural, and the ease to which the music flows is evident. There are a number of great Country music artists with great voices, and then there are an equal number that would give anything for a voice like this. The 28 year old Aussie sounds like a 20 year Country Music veteran.

On Workin' Overtime, Adam Harvey takes us through the full gambit. There are some touching tracks, some up-tempo barn burners, and some are just plain and simple good time numbers. Of the 13 cuts included, Adam Harvey co-wrote seven of them, and they really are the jewels here. Adam Harvey is in complete top form on "The Shake of a Hand", a number about the changing times, the whimsical "Beauty's In The Eye of the Beerholder", "What it Used To Be" , and a great version of the classic Harlan Howard penned "She's Gone, Gone, Gone". It really is time for the rest of the world to catch what the folks Down Under have known for some time.
