Anthrax - Greater of Two Evils

For the most part the 1980s didn't really bring us a lot of bands with Staying power, whether you are thinking of the pop music world with artists like Peter Schilling or Nena not really being household names today. Hair metal was cool, but it was more designed for the gals, that's what the boys in the band were in it for, to get the girls. Then you have the entrance of Thrash Metal thanks to band like Metallica, and the subject of this review, one of the top bands of the day, ANTHRAX! I am willing to wager that more people recognize this band than remember even the great D.R.I.

On The Greater Of Two Evils, Anthrax show what they are made of, and the power they still possess in a balls to the wall 2 day recording session that YOU picked. Anthrax gave their fans a chance to pick their favorite songs of the 80s, all Anthrax songs of course, and after the fans voted via the internet, Anthrax tabulated the votes and did a basically live-off-the-floor recording session and showed their fans they still have what it takes to be one of the hardest freakin' bands on the planet, and that is no stretch.

So, this is basically like a fans choice awards for Anthrax fans, that's the first thing, second, is it worth it? Well, it depends, do you want to have the experience of a live atmosphere and listen without the screaming crowd, because that is simply what you get. Raw, in your face speed metal from one of the bands that helped define the sound. Anthrax for a new generation of fans, but the same standards they always upheld. The Greater Of Two Evils gives you the chance to relive the Anthrax sound of 15-20 years ago, and the band are in fine form.

Whether you sat in a high school classroom and sketched the Anthrax logo on your books, or if you are new to the fold, this is an awesome RE-Thraxed mix of tracks from Fistful Of Metal ('84), Spreading The Disease ('85), Among The Living ('87), State of Euphoria ('88), and Persistence of Time ('90). The Greater Of Two Evils also features such anthems as "Deathrider", "A.I.R.", "Gung-Ho", "I Am The Law" and ten other memorable tracks, you voted for the tracks, so pick up the CD, if you want to hear Anthrax in classic form, you got it here kiddies.
