Brandon Silveira - That Boy Ain't Right

Brandon Silveira - That Boy Ain't Right

Did you ever wonder what you would get if you mixed a guy with a country heart and a punk rock attitude? Well, wonder no more my friends, as Brandon has arrived with his very first independent release "That Boy Ain't Right". There is a definite charm to the music created by Brandon as he brings a youth and energy to country music, and presents country to a younger audience. The kids are gonna love this one, but there is something here for all country fans.

With his spiked hair, a voice that has traces of Buck Owens, Garth Brooks, and Dwight Yoakam, and a devil may care attitude, Brandon Silveira lit up the stage on the first Nashville Star competition on USA network. His spunk and flair garnered him a lot of support, and propelled him into the top 5 of the competition. On the show I found Brandon's voice was a bit off key at times, but he has worked on that and produced a high quality CD.

The CD is filled with traditional country subject matter with love, bar rooms, and lots of beer drinking combining to create the Brandon Silveira sound. I was truly wondering about this CD while I was waiting for it to arrive, and frankly I didn't know what to expect. Brandon sculptured his sound and made it fit him like a glove, but the entire CD will not appeal to everyone (Who Does?). The signature song of Brandon is here, the same he performed on N.S., "Life Don't Get Much Better Than This" has an attitude that stands alone, an anthem to the non working, lazy, beer drinkin' men everywhere. The song is far ahead of the version he sang on Nashville Star, and I'm sure the song would get a lot of spins in the honky tonks.

Brandon Silveira has a good songwriter inside him, and along with writing partner/ background singer Curtis Marsh wrote all the tunes on the CD, and the heart of it is pure country. The greatest tunes on the CD are "Heaven Needs Angels" (A duet with Anne Blythe, another of the Nashville Star alumni ), "Insane", "Fine Women" (if you're not movin' to this one, you better check your pulse!!!). Other notables are "Country's Being Wronged" and the party anthem "Beer Thirty" (keep listening after "Mistakes" for another version of this song). High quality musicians, and a stance of not taking life too seriously make this a fun CD not only for the kids.
