Debe Welch - Crazy

Chicago artist Debe Welch has returned to the golden age of singer songwriters from eras gone past. In the vein of such great artists as Carole King, and Carly Simon, Welch has brought a polished rootsy sound to a new generation. Refreshing and original, the CD shows there still is room in the world today for gifted vocalists with a true depth in the songwriting. It's a laid back trip that transcends both the boundaries of time and genre. Unfortunately the CD will probably only get airplay on easy listenin g or soft adult contemporary radio.

The pop world is so filled with young artists who care more about their appearance than they do with style and substance. Debe Welch on the other hand brings a style that has been all but forgotten, and breaths new life into her musical fashion. True depth in the tracks here bringing much subject matter to the front from unique love tunes,  to tracks about social injustice. The true heart Debbie Welch adds to all her songs brings an honesty and enlightenment to the listener as she performs her sleek style that rushes over you like a gentle breeze.

There are few artists today that put their message across with subtle charm and beauty quite like this independent CD from a very gifted lady. You need only hear the disc once to feel the passion woven in the fabric of each song. Without getting in your face or adding a dance beat, Debe Welch has no problem getting her message across, and remains true to her calling at the same time. Great music for a Saturday afternoon matinee at the local tavern, or while just wanting to relax and listen to some great music that shines, but doesn't force itself on you.

In years past, Debe Welch would have been hugely successful, whereas today much music has lost it's integrity and heart. The song has some very strong tracks that compliment the artists zeal for creating great music and not following the trends of the present. "Crazy", "One Kiss", "If The Love Is Strong", and "On My Knees" are the songs that best represent the level of talent that Debe Welch paints all the compositions with. A strong CD that is not afraid to go against the grain or stand it's ground, a true aural pleasure that deserves attention. Not for everyone, but a must for folks who want to hear a true songwriter and vocalist that doesn't mind being herself at all.
