E & R - Just the Beginning

Eco & Ricana two mc's that bring different styles to the mix in a new band that was brought together in 2002, cutting short the artists individual solo careers. Eco from Manhattan, N.Y., and Ricana from Puerto Rico both have flamboyant styles that may be a bit much for some listeners, but their in your face, listen to this attitude at the same time is just what the doctor ordered for some others. Bringing hip-hop together with a bit of R & B is essentially what is offered up on this 5 song debut EP that has both original and clean edits available on the same CD. If ya take offense to the "F" word stay away from tracks 1-5 and listen to 6-9 instead.

The attitude of the two is at times a bit abrasive, but still likeable while they send tunes about ticking off the neighbors and Street Racing at you full throttle. The content is a bit too cliché for the times, but fits in well with the racer flicks like The Fast and the Furious, or the new biker race flick Torque. The mentions of we are all that can get a bit old, but at least the CD does make you shake that thang while you listen to the tracks. For a first effort, this really ain't bad, but we'll have to see what the full length has to offer when it is released next month.
