Punk rock has stood the test of time, much to the dismay of nay-sayers that have tried to say for years that this music wouldn't last. Not only has it lasted, it is much more respected today than it was  when it began in the 1970s. The bands still play music for the social outcast and it sill remains a wonderful way to vent for the artists. Anarchy and disrespect for the establishment still reign through the songs in Punk Rock as they did in the beginning, and will remain to do so until the end. Punk Rock is a statement made by youth that don't fit the norm of society, however the music has become increasingly popular, so does that mean that punk rock music is now the "NORM" of the music world? Hardly, but it is an art form all it's own.

Go Betty Go - Worst Enemy

Imagine if The Runaways were still around today, or if the Go-Gos were to reunite and play on speed. That's exactly the thought I had when I first plugged Go Betty Go's Worst Enemy into the old stereo system. The 4 angry gals from the city of angels throw a frontal assault at you, filled with energy and manic playing, along with some in your freakin' face vocals have unleashed their new EP on the world, and although at times it has more of a power pop sound, like they do on "C'mon", for the most part this is a purely traditional punk CD that is worth the bucks to get.

Included in this enhanced CD is a video for "Go Away" and a few more tidbits. Nicolette Vilar shows one hell of an attitude on her vocals that as certain points are more screams than they really singing, but that is part of the energy Go Betty Go presents the listener. Go Betty Go also have lyrics that are fitting but not like the punk mainstream as they write their songs from personal experiences according to break neck drummer Aixa Vilar (Nicolette's sister). 

One of the best tracks may get lost on some who don't know or understand spanish, "Son Mis Locuros" is completely in Spanish, but with the feel of the song it really doesn't matter if you know what they are saying or not. A 5 song energetic spree that certainly does wet your appetite for what these 4 gals will come up with next. Betty Cisneros bends the strings in true punk fashion while the bass line of Michelle Rangel provides a great thundering mixture.

Go Betty Go have me curiously hooked, Gracias gals, and keep the attitude.
