Jet - Get Born

With the success of their charismatic single "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" Jet have a ferocity that is a welcome addition to the music industry. From the very first lick of "Last Chance" the four chaps that seem to be flashbacks form the 60s rock, and 70s FM radio, Jet do a fly by that holds your attention. From the Black Crowes, to some Angus Young guitar, and the Beatle-esque sound on "Radio Song" The Melbourne boys stick it to you like nobody's business. 

This entire CD "Get Born" is just a compact exposure that will have you out of your seat and energetic, while do throw a couple mellow tunes at you as well. Coming out of Melbourne, they keep up the heritage of their home land, with two exceptions that pop in my head, I just can't see these guys belting out Air Supply (AHHHHHH! I said it) or Olivia Newton-John for that matter.

There songs are updated pure roots rock examples of the way many believe rock should have stayed. Jet supply catchy tunes and some down to earth and sometimes humorous lyrics. These four have obviously done their Rock and Roll homework simply drawing on the past greats for "Get Born", but moving forward and updating the music for modern listeners who may not remember the great days of Stadium Rock that was so prevalent in the 70s.

Not afraid to take some chances, Jet have put together a remarkable effort on "Get Born". It won't sooth the beast or work as a lullabye, but it does manage to keep you reaching for continuously for the volume switch for "Just one more notch". Jet is comprised of two brothers Nic (guitar and vocals) and Chris Cester (Drums and vocals, along with bass player Mark Wilson and Cam Muncey on the axe with some vocals as well. If all you've heard is "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" , you really have to dive deeper into Jet's Get Born for there are many more great cuts. To name just a couple of the greats, "Rollover Dj", "Get What You Need" and "Cold Hard B***ch" are good examples of the bands talent.
