In the latter part of the 1970s when Southern Rock was going strong, a new variety emerged from the ashes. I was first introduced to Molly Hatchet by my brother, it was Flirtin' With Disaster, I could always count on him to introduce me to great music. I was simply blown away, for posterities sake I wish this new Best Of (Remastered) CD had the crackle of well worn vinyl, I still love the sound of vinyl. If you are into Southern rock, there is no doubt you've heard of Molly Hatchet, if you haven't this is a great collection of their very best that would serve well as an introduction to the band. 17 smoking tracks that span the career of the band.

When Molly Hatchet came on the scene they spared no time in showing that they had something unique. The heavy, hard driving sound that merged the Southern Rock sound with gritty vocals and a heavier sound than most other of their rivals earned Molly Hatchet a place in the the halls of southern rock, and they will also go down in the history of the genre Molly Hatchet were not know simply for their music, their album covers (see their best covers below) also became sought after by collectors of album art, and, yes there is such a thing.

This compilation of Molly Hatchet's best tracks is also just a sampling, the album cuts were killer as well. Their best never sounded so good, the remastering gave the tracks a cleaner sound, while remaining true to the original recording with an added bit of polishing. Listening to the albums used to be a major pastime, and now it can be again with this affordable compilation.

Southern Rock standards included here are "Flirtin' With Disaster", "Gator Country", "Satisfied Man", "Jukin' City", and "Dreams I'll Never See". The disc is filled with some major kick a$$ grooves that are sure to please fans of the band, southern rock fans, as well as making some new fans too. Molly Hatchet have released this CD on SPV records to coincide with the bands 25th anniversary, a great rockin' collection, not to be missed.
