You know, since DVD started becoming mainstream you could almost see this coming.... Well, I mean they started with VHS, but the tapes were really big and bulky, and there really weren't that many shows that really made the transition well. With DVD, TV shows make the transition much easier, the discs are thinner, the packaging is smaller and much easier to store. You can store a whole TV Season on DVD easily and with as much room as it may take to store maybe 3 VHS tapes at most, alot of the Seasons can fit in a space the width it would take to fit ONE VHS tape, or less.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Vol 6

I know you know what it's about, right? Well, I'll give you a brief rundown just the same to make certain. Mystery Science Theater 3000 has a very simple premise, take one Janitor from a company in the not so distant future, send him into outer space with no companions, and then punish him by sending only the worst Sci-Fi movies you can dig up for his viewing pleasure. The thing is, Mystery Science Theater 3000 takes what we may think the worst possible  movies and makes them enjoyable for the viewers. They do it by simply taking a dull script and adding in their own comments and snide remarks about the film. Oh, yeah, he was sent into space alone, but rather than being lonely he does what any other janitor would do, he makes his own friends out of spare parts, Robots, I wouldn't quite call them androids, but they do have a hell of a sense of humor.

In Volume 6, we get to see 4 Sci-Fi B-Movie reprobate's and watch them in a new light. The wise-cracking robots (Crow and Tom Servo) and creator Joel take the movie house rule of No Talking during the film, and throw it out the window, I mean that's all they do. The Mystery Science Theater 3000 crew not only make jokes at the movie, they also make up their own lines for the characters, use song lyrics to help the scene, and even compare the scenes to Television commercials.

Not only are the 4 flicks here, Attack of the Giant Leeches, Gunslinger, Mr. B.'s Lost Shorts, and Teenagers from Outer Space, B grade movies, so is the entire MST3K set, characters and production. That's one of the things that makes this so hilarious, making fun of bad movies while you actually in one yourself is completely off-the-wall. And the simple fact that you have no idea what these movie connoisseurs are going to come out with next, you may even want to throw a few zingers in yourself, hey they won't mind.

So, the deal is this, If you like grainy old films that knew absolutely nothing about special effects, and if you always wanted to be able to throw some comments back at the screen, welcome to your own personal paradise. The cult-favorite Mystery Science Theater 3000 is coming to your living room with volume 6. This is as good a place to start as any, but if you like this, be advised that you will most likely be heading to your favorite store or online retailer to get the first 5 in this series too.
