If you've been a fan of bluegrass, if you've watched the Opry, if you've been a country fan for some time there is no need to tell you who Ricky Skaggs is, as you no doubt know. For those who don't know, a brief introduction to the man is simply stated as being a player of bluegrass for years, a blending of country and bluegrass hit the charts high in the mid 80s and 90s, and now focusing on his roots with backing band of well tuned bluegrass musicians in Kentucky Thunder , the traditional sound of Bluegrass has never sounded better!

From the wonderful original instrumentals penned by Ricky Skaggs (Amanda Jewell, Crossville) to the traditional (Black Eyed Suzie), the borrowed (Why Did You Wander, Uncle Pen) to the transformed folk pop classics (Cat's In The Cradle) it's all packed in this 22 track live performance. OK, so 7 of the tracks are song intros, but the rest are true to the roots Skaggs classics. The fans of the live shows will love the fact "Cat's In The Cradle" which Ricky has been performing for a while now is finally available on CD.

This is a true showmanship performance, some oif the very best bluegrass musicians are members of Kentucky Thunder, and of course Ricky Skaggs is at the top of his game here both vocally and instrumentally. 21 year old Fiddle sensation and Kentucky Thunder member Andy Leftwich shines here as does the rest of the band, and the recording is incredibly clear and pure. Feel the live show and enjoy one of the best performances Ricky Skaggs and KT have laid out.

The thing about a live show is you always get to hear the artists in their natural habitat, which is of course on stage. This CD is one of the best examples of a live show you will hear. Some new songs like the Harley Allen penned tune "Simple Life" and the classics added in. This is as complete a recording as you will find, and a complete treasure for the musical senses. Whether you are a long time fan of bluegrass, or you are a country fan and are looking to get your feet wet in bluegrass, this is a great addition.
