Sammy Sadler - Hard On A Heart

Undoubtedly, if you have been following country music, you've heard of the "Murder on Music Row". Well, a survivor of that tragic incident which took the life of Kevin Hughes (Cash Box Magazine) was traumatized by the incident, and almost lost his own life in the shooting, Sammy Sadler has crawled back with a new CD that is pleasing and country to the core. Hard On A Heart is the new release that has taken a back burner for the last 15 years, and took a lot of work over the last 2 years, but Sammy Sadler is satisfied with the project, and for good reason.

Born in Memphis, raised in Texas, Sammy Sadler has released a CD filled with gems. With his vocals that range in sound from bluegrass highs, to soulful Ronnie Milsap flavor this is a CD that may have waited 15 years, but is sure to appeal to country fans across the board. The mellow sound and inflection that Sadler blends into each song is proof that his career was nearly ended before it really began, after listening to Sammy Sadler's "Hard On A Heart" that would have made that fateful day much more tragic.

From the opening mid-tempo number "I Know A Place" with it's energetic harmonies this CD is not ready to take a back-burner to any one, this CD just keeps getting better. Sammy Sadler is not an extremely polished vocalist, but the heart and emotion put into all 10 tracks is refreshing with it's shear honesty. Already turning some heads in the radio world, the title track "Hard On A Heart" is a prime example of what makes this CD great. Although the up-tempo numbers "That Old Gravel Road" and "Wild Thing In Me" are great bar-room-stompers, it is the love songs and tear-jerkers that really define this CD.

Sammy Sadler's voice and style are custom made for the ballad. "Any Four Walls" and "It's Killing Me To Watch Love Die" are two of the best examples here. Sadler does show he can do more, but it is the soul he delivers in the slower cuts that epitomize the pure country sound that deserves to be heard, and will be appreciated when the chance is given. Hard On A Heart is an addition country fans will not be sorry they've added to their collection. One can not help but feel this new beginning is just that, the beginning of a wonderful music career.
