Sean Patrick McGraw - Demo CD 

I have to state first that I firmly believe if the Nashville Star competition, of which Sean Patrick McGraw was a top 20 finalist, had been set up differently, not the groups of 4 performing and eliminations which it was, this singer-songwriter would have made it much farther. This is a solid country CD with cross-over appeal. Why wouldn't it have crossover appeal, born in New York, moved to California, now residing in Tennessee, this performer has a lot of gifts which he shares in his true to the heart brand of country music.

You could imagine artists from Poco to the Eagles and a number of country artists performing these songs. Music written with a thinking man(woman)'s perspective. Sean Patrick McGraw (On his website called "The Other McGraw") has a laid back style that is exciting and fresh and shows that not only does he know how to finely craft a song from the songwriters perspective, he also knows how to perform the song with a strong feeling and emotion that is subtle yet intense. Sound a little different, well that is exactly what this is.

I would be surprised if Sean Patrick McGraw doesn't get a record deal, his songwriting and his gentle presence are a fresh air in the country scene. A voice that is recognizable, songs that are written from the perspective of someone who lives the songs, which is what Sean Patrick does. You can hear the life lessons in his songs as well as feel the truth that is put forth in each lyric and note. This is higher praise than many would be imagining, but let me tell you it is well deserved, in fact possibly understated at times.

The country-rock sound of "What's Stopping Us Baby", the straight ahead country sound of "Crash and Burn", the life lesson love of "Fits Me Good", the up-tempo and fun "Happy To Be Here", and the crossover sound of "The Letting Go" as well as the others all show how talented this "will be" star really is. I have to admit I was taken back when I heard this disc and found my self wondering in the country scene of today why the name Sean Patrick McGraw isn't known by more folks. Well, the thought "not yet anyway" is what strikes me, be on the lookout for more from this talented singer-songwriter. The only thing I feel is that at times Sean Patrick could put a bit more energy behind his vocals, when they deserve it. Labels should be lining up to sign this guy, period.
