One just wasn't enough, so Carreras, Domingo and Pavarotti introduced us to three, then we saw the Irish Tenors, and maybe the best kept secret of all was The Ten Tenors. I say best kept simply for the fact that if you are not an avid watcher of PBS, or if you aren't really up on your tenors, you may not have heard of these ten young vocalists that are every bit as talented as any that have come before. The live shows are hailed as The Ten Tenors mix comedy with music, and pop music with the classics, they truly are a pop music ensemble as much as they are classically trained, or operatic.

On Larger Than Life, The Ten Tenors (or TTT as they are sometimes known) bring their full mixed bag of tricks to you, From the cover of Freddie Mercury and Queen's Bicycle Race to some of their own compositions like David Kidd's "Thunderpoint" then there's  Vangelis' "Conquest Of Paradise" featuring Shannon Brown. The Ten Tenors really have a unique mix of popular, Opera and Classical that truly leave you yearning for more. And if you were like me and didn't know they existed, they do have a of DVD and CD releases already to their credit.

Larger Than Life at times feels like just that, something that is almost too special to be put together in one package. Extremely gifted vocalists, an incredible backing Orchestra, songwriting that can equal any other, and some fun packed in for good measure. The Ten Tenors share the lead or "featured" vocal duties, and each is as able to perform the duties as the one before, a true collaboration of epic proportions.

So, for the pop music fan, The Ten Tenors have some music for you, Opera lovers will not be disappointed with the talent of the young vox masters, and they even stray to all the places in between. The Ten Tenors - Larger Than Life is my first glimpse into their world, and with the bonus (limited edition) DVD featuring an Opera Medley, ABBA's "Dancing Queen" and the live versions of two of the albums better tracks "Sundown" and "World Anthem", this may have started to be a curiosity for me, but now I am in hopes of much more from The Ten Tenors in the future, an amazingly stunning disc.
