The Cure - Faith Remaster / Re-Issue

Fans of the Cure will remember vividly how almost every critic that was writing around the release date of "Faith" gave the album nearly no respect. This was enough to outrage some of the Cure's fans. The CD, even after being condemned by many critics, still climbed to the number 17 spot on the UK Charts. 

There were no US smash hits for the Cure from "Faith", however they did manage some single chart success in the UK with "Primary", "The Holy Hour" and "All Cats Are Grey". Through it all, I was not swayed either having waited for the release, and I was thinking it could have been a bit more dark, even more cynical. The CD works on the level it was created, and works well. Robert Smith and The Cure wanted to create an album that took a bold look at life, spirituality, love and the inner-self.

Fans of The Cure will love this remastered deluxe edition with a Bonus CD filled with 15 extra tracks of unreleased material, out-takes, and demo recordings. If you are not a hard-core fan you may find this CD taking you to depths you don't want to enter, just remember you were fairly warned in advance! "Faith" is a triumph in the experimental "finding ourselves" period of The Cure's existence, and is restored and delivered with class.

Out of all the CD sets remastered and re-issued so far from the Cure's library, "Faith" holds second spot only to "Pornography". The other two releases so far are "Seventeen Seconds" and The Cure's debut "Three Imaginary Boys". "Faith" shows a good look into what Robert Smith and the Cure would become, where they were headed, and does so well. Definitely recommended for fans of The Cure, New Wave / Alternative fans, and anyone who really wants a glimpse into a group that would gather multitudes of fans, many of which are some of the most loyal rock fans around!
