I hard about this release a while back and was ecstatic that one music's most sought after producer, musician and vocalist's was releasing an album of all new material. After listening I can't say that I don't enjoy the CD, a concept CD that deals with lies and people telling them in normal daily life. The fact is that Todd Rundgren kind of shocked me here. The sound of the CD is more of an electronic journey than it is a rock CD which I was expecting. 

Todd Rundgren was never a trend follower, and his playing as well as producing and writing has crossed many genres over his 30 year career than most folks hear. He has not mellowed over time in the lyrical department as no issues or thoughts have ever been on the taboo list for Rundgren, and this the new CD Liars is true to form in that department. Musically he shows his diversity here as well, ever proving that their are no barriers to his music.

For the main part of his career, Todd Rundgren has been more known by musicians, artists and songwriters as he has played with, worked with, or influenced many an artist over time. This may not be the CD that is going to bring Todd Rundgren to the forefront in music, but it is the best work produced by the multi-talented artist in some time. Music fans have either been waiting for this project with baited breath, or not caring one way or the other.

If you have liked the past of Todd Rundgren, this is a must have CD for you. Feeling more like a Donald Fagan CD musically than I expected, the same insight and thought have gone into the writing, the lyrics are as good as anything ever done by Rundgren, and the music is polished and clean. If you are expecting a flashback to the earlier years, I will warn you this disc may throw you for a loop, but it is a great listen and I do highly recommend the CD for fans, I also suggest you to check out the CD if you like your music to be more thought provoking than a backdrop.
