ZOEgirl - Different kind of free

On their third album, ZOEgirl (Chrissy Conway, Alisa Girard, and Kristin Swinford) seem to have found their musical home. Thankfully, in the girls case, ZOEgirl, have laid the dance and techno to rest that was featured on Life and have honed their skills to put out a straight forward pop-rock record that works for them. The progression from their past recordings until now showcase the musical growth.

Guitar based pop that is energetic and uplifting is the direction Different Kind Of Free has veered toward. Bright, lively and  fresh are three words that come to mind when you listen. In depth and thought provoking lyrics intermingled with catchy pop music backdrops, ZOEgirl have a good mixture that is aurally pleasing. Enigmatic sounds that drift from one tune to the next with a noticeable ease.

Brave enough to put their message forward without trying to bury the content as many wannabe crossover artists do. Three amazing voices that compliment each other incredibly well. Notables on Different Kind Of Free are the title track, "Beautiful Name", "Love Me For Me", and  "Unbroken". A great work that should help build a larger fan base. If you are looking for a well crafted piece of pure pop-rock that mixes tender ballads with enthusiastic up-tempo numbers, you owe it yourself to look into the best ZOEgirl CD so far.
